Why would people want to live in a community city civilization opposed to being a nomad hunter gatherer

Simplicity. If two families merged, one hunter can go out for deer enough for the two, while the other can watch both sets of sheep, each one doing less work, but both still achieving the same rewards.
Would you like to have to raise your meat, grow your vegetables, cut down wood for your house repairs, teach your children, and protect your homefront? It's just easier to split up the work.
