Why does BT Yahoo mail take so long to connect

For the past fortnight it has almost been impossible to log into yahoo mail. But it so easy to get into gmail. Does it mean we have to move over to gmail for effective e-mail functions? the whole of today we get only msgs and no pictures. Not opne picture is displayed why?
Because of all the flash video adverts they put on there. I asked them why and they told me it was to get revenue, they get enough out of me as it is...
