In all probability, the very nature of alchohol is a drying out of tissues both internally and externally. The skin being porous would soak up the rub and eventually cause problems after an extended period of time. Possibly mild gastric, pancreatic, bowel, circulatory disturbance, depending on the individuals body's ability to neutralise, detoxify any harmful ingredients. Not a potion to used for any untoward lenght of time.
