What is the purpose of modern art

Answers:
Modern art does not have a single purpose. Some modern art is conceptual, some is experimental, some is political or social, some is art for art's sake. Modern art arose soon after the rise of popular photography, when realism painting was suddenly made obsolete. Painting ordinary scenes was considered pointless, as a photograph could do one better. Many artists attempted to depict emotions or the mind itself.
